2016 Gigondas, Côtes-du-Rhône, France, Domaine du Terme

The domain is surrounded by the vineyards of Gigondas, from where you can admire the village and the famous Dentelles de Montmirail.

When Gigondas was part of the Principality of Orange, the domain was really at the limit, explaining its name "Clos du Terme" which later became "Domaine du Terme".
It is the Gaudin family, which since 1870 operates and produces wines from the AOC.

The estate is situated on the plateau of Gigondas ; the domain has an area of 25 hectares, divided as follows : 11 hectares of Gigondas, 3 hectares of Vacqueyras, 2 hectares of Sablet Villages and 9 hectares of Côtes-du-Rhône.

Roland Gaudin is on the estate since 1953. He was the Mayor of the town of Gigondas from 1989 to 2014 and was president of the Appellation Gigondas from 1986 to 1994.
Anne-Marie Riche Gaudin is on the domain since 1987. She was the president of la Traversée des Dentelles Association and still member of the Association Femmes Vignes Rhône since its creation in 2004. She is also member of the Office of the Union of Gigondas since early 2011.

The vineyard is located on a clay and limestone soil and planted with vines having an average of 50 years.
The harvest is manual. The wine matures for 6 to 8 months in big wooden barrels.
