2010 Château Villa Bel-Air, Bordeaux, France, Graves
The Château Villa Bel-Air is located in the village of Saint-Morillon, in the heart of the area named "Graves". This magnificent property of the eighteenth century was bought by Jean-Michel Cazes and his family who in 1988 undertook a full restructuring of the vineyards and the technical installations. The vines are now benefiting from the most advanced techniques but are cultivated in accordance with ancient traditions. Chateau Villa Bel-Air is now producing a white wine and red wine that illustrate the subtlety and complexity of the wines of Graves.
The Château Villa Bel-Air remains the great bargain of the appellation Graves. An excellent price combined with the experience of Jean-Michel Cazes, owner also of Château Lynch-Bages in Pauillac Grand Cru Classé. The Graves Blanc 2010 is proving a great mastery. The woody notes are discrete and let this vintage express an aromatic range of a very high level. The maturity of Semillon develops pretty fruity and citrus in the nose while the soil draws all the mineral tension. This bottle is a great achievement and brilliantly reveals the quality of white Graves.
