2006 Idus de Vall Llach, Catalunya, Spain, Priorat D.O.Q.
The "Celler Vall Llach" was created in the early 90s by the famous singer Lluis Llach and his friend Enric Costa. Llach, from Porrera, one of the largest villages in the Priorat, in the heart of the appellation, wanted to return to his roots. He had already old family vineyards, he has completed the purchase of old vines, often abandoned and overgrown with bushes. The restoration of these "Trossos" was often a work of Benedictine. They also decided to plant new vines to find a balance. The first result of these years of work in 1998, has been quite impressive. Meanwhile, their three wines enjoy a worldwide reputation. These premium wines are produced in small quantities: total production (of 3 wines) hardly exceeds 30 000 bottles.
The "Idus" comes mainly from old vines Carignan and Grenache, which comes from "Trossos." Porrera is the village where the Carignan plays the leading role. Lluis buys grapes for this wine from winemakers who carefully follow his instructions to obtain the perfect expression of the old vines of Priorat.
