2007 La Chapelle Saint-Benoît, Domaine Grandes Serres, Côtes-du-Rhône, France, Lirac
The soil is composed of clay, limestone, sand and round pebbles. The terroir ensures structured, racy wines with a pleasant taste.
Dominant in this blend is Grenache that gives this wine great elegance and aging potential, Syrah and Cinsault complement this wine.
They apply a total destemming and wine fermentation is separated by varietal. The assembly of the grapes is done only after malolactic fermentation. A portion of the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, 20% of the wine is aged in barrels.
The owner of Grandes Serres today is also the owner of Chateau de Chassagne-Montrachet in Bourgondy who by purchasing this domain has expanded his range of wines to include several famous wines from the Rhone Valley.
