2010 Prazo de Roriz, Douro, Portugal, Douro DOC
The Douro region in Northern Portugal is the home of Port. It takes its name after the Douro river, which flows east to west, from the Spanish border to Oporto, where it meets the Atlantic Ocean. Though Douro is best known for its fortified wines, total production here is fairly evenly split between port and non-fortified wines.
This domaine is a propriety of Prats & Symington, who are also very famous for their Port Wines. The grapes for this wine were hand-picked, followed by strong selection. The wine matured on french barrels of 400 l. The wine was made by Bruno Prats (before wine maker of Cos D’Estournel in Saint –Estèphe – Bordeaux) and Charles Symington, assisted by Luís Coelho and Pedro Correia.
