2007 Domaine de Montcy, Cour-Cheverny, Loire, France, Cour-Cheverny
The grape variety of Cour-Cheverny, was first introduced by Francis the First in 1519 and was planted near the castle Romorantin where his mother lived. It fits so well to the climate and soil that it took the name of Romorantin whose name retains an exclusivity for Cheverny.
This variety seems to have found on the siliceous soils of the vineyards all its expressive potential to produce a distinctive and original white wine.
The Romorantin is harvested in late maturity. The wines are mostly dry. They are particularly suitable for aging: their colour takes golden hues and in the mouth the delicate flavors have notes of honey and acacia.
Domaine de Montcy is a family owned vineyard of 20 hectares in biologic farming. For this purpose they plow the soil and the wines are fermented naturally without any addition of oenological products to meet the best grapes and to produce wine expressing in a very strong way the soil. Minimum and controlled use of sulfite.
The vineyards are composed of siliceous soil. The wine is produced by Laura Semeria.
