2007 Montalupa Bianco, Ascheri, Piemonte, Italy, Langhe DOC
Originally the Giacomo Ascheri Cellars were situated in La Morra. In this region you can still find a village named Ascheri. In the beginning of the 19th century the family planted the first vines and produced the first wines. Today Ascheri owns three different domains. Two are situated on Barolo, the other one on Roero where this wine is produced.
Situated in the Roero Region, precisely on the Montalupa Hill which can be seen from Bra, this estate is characterised by innovative vineyards housing Syrah and Viognier vines planted in marine-sandy soil, alternating with gravel and marl at about 300 m above sea level. Plant density is 5500 vines per hectare.
The harvest is done completely “by hand", the exclusive priority being the choice of the ideal moment for the harvesting.
Ageing: 25% for 4 months in new Slavonian oak and 75% in steel. 18 months (at least) in bottle. Only 4500 bottles produced.
