2005 Morellino di Scansano, Porrona, Tuscany, Italy, Morellino di Scansano
The family of Ambrogio Folonari has purchased 60 hectares of high quality vineyards near the town of Cinigiano in the province of Grosseto, at the foot of Mount Amiata, two kilometers southeast of Montalcino, around the ancient medieval Porrona Castle.
The influence of sea breezes and the appreciable temperature ranges during the harvest period provide grapes that guarantee the strenght and softness of the fine quality wines produced.
Nowadays the Estate produces: Montecucco Rosso DOC, Morellino di Scansano DOCG, Syrah and Merlot.
Vineyard density: 5500 plants per hectare
Produced in the Morellino area, in the Grosseto province in the heart of Maremma.
Malolactic fermentation followed by aging in small size casks for 8 months. Bottle ageing for a period of at least 3 months.
