2019 Champ de Cour, Domaine Romanesca, Beaujolais, France, Moulin-à-Vent AOC
Romanesca is a family estate. Today it is Antoine, Olivier (twin brothers) and Lucrèce (Olivier's wife) who manage the estate. They have 7 hectares of the finest Moulin-à-Vent vines, cultivated using sustainable agriculture (currently being converted to organic). In addition to Moulin-à-Vent, they also have vines in Fleurie, Juliénas, Morgon and Beaujolais Villages.
Young people in their thirties, they wish to preserve the working methods of previous generations and bring a touch of renewal with the conversion to organic farming of the whole estate. This approach seems obvious to them in order to have "clean" wines and to take care of the environment.
Their philosophy is to work on a parcel-by-parcel basis to bring out the characteristics of each climate. They produce parcel-based vintages aged in barrels, in order to have great wines for ageing.
