1998 Château Laborde, Bordeaux, France, Lalande-de-Pomerol
Laborde is a family history.
Close to Saint-Emilion, the Lalande-de-Pomerol vineyard is grown on a soil rich in history. The vine is already cultivated since the twelfth century by the monks of the Knights of Malta who planted parcels, made them high level in quality and provided the wine trade through the port of Libourne which was very near. Moreover, we find their emblem, a white eight-pointed cross on the labels of most of the wines of Lalande-de-Pomerol.
The family Trocard is working in viticulture since 1628, hence the name of the cuvée prestige of the property! Feature of Château Laborde, it was the girls who inherited over generations till Jean-Marie, father of the current director Jean took over. He represents the fifteenth generation of winemakers in charge of Laborde.
