1999 Château Fonréaud, Cru Bourgeois, Bordeaux, France, Listrac en Médoc
The vineyard is owned by the Chanfreau family. The uninterrupted vineyard has surrounded the château since the origins of the growth. The creation of the Appellations of Origin broke it down into AOC Listrac-Médoc and AOC Moulis. The vineyard covers the highest point in the Médoc (43 m), as well as its gravel and clay-limestone slopes.
As a mosaic of more or less sandy gravel soils on an Oligocene clay-limestone base, the terroirs are planted with typical Médoc grape varieties, depending on their type. The surface area is 32 hectares in a single block. Grape varieties are 52 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 45 % Merlot and 3 % Petit Verdot.
Vine care constantly ensures that a balance is maintained between the plant and its environment. Maturing lasts around 12 months in oak barrels, a 1/3 of which are replaced each year.
