2008 La Fleur Laroze, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, France, Saint-Emilion
Current owner of Château Laroze, the family MESLIN, are direct descendants of the founders Mr. and Mrs. George GURCHY. The family comes from a long line of winemakers since 1610 when the GURCHY family already produced wine at a place called Saint-Emilion "Mazerat".
Between 1882 and 1883, Mr and Mrs George GURCHY bought three small properties to create a vineyard of 15 hectares. Two years later, in 1885, they built the castle with the winery and the cellars. Their son Maurice succeeded them, as well as their granddaughter who married Dr. André MESLIN.
George, son of André, held the reins of the field for 40 years, unified the domain again under its name and ensured the development. His efforts and those of previous generations were rewarded in the classification of 1955.
The situation of the vineyard and its wines at Château Laroze earned the mention Grand Cru Classé. At the end of the career of his father, Guy MESLIN took over in 1990.
Château La Fleur Laroze is the 2nd wine produced by Château Laroze in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. The grapes are from the same domain, the same soil. This is a selection of wines sampled within the allowed production rates and it is vinified the same way as Château Laroze, partly in vats and partly in barriques for one year.
The assembly of wines La Fleur Laroze is rational to give a regular and constant quality level from one year to another without erasing however the characteristics of each vintage. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, which gives a good aromatic intensity in a harmonious and structured balance. The severe selection of grapes and the accuracy of the final assembly allows you to buy this wine without any hesitation.
