2011 Pessac-Léognan de Haut-Bailly, Bordeaux, France, Pessac-Léognan
If a great wine is the result of a harmonious and qualitative relationship between man, nature and the vines, the terroir is its foundation.
As a Grand Cru Classé located near Bordeaux, Château Haut -Bailly majestically overlooks a vineyard of 30 hectares in one piece. Set on one of the highest gravel outcrops on the left bank, it enjoys an excellent slope gradient, reponsible for an efficient drainage and well-distributed ditches that provide drainage in wet vintages.
Of the three components of the soil, the land is the most subtle: here it combines a soil mixed with sand bass slipped Quaternary with petrification fossil stones, which is responsible for its major features.
The third wine of the property, "Pessac -Léognan", which bears the name of its appellation was created in 1987. The lots that compose it are often from younger vines. This is a very accessible wine that remains less long on barrels and that can be enjoyed soon after bottling.
