2009 Bourgogne Blanc, Domaine Rémi Jobard, Burgundy, France, Bourgogne Blanc
Domaine Rémi Jobard is a Meursault specialist, creating modern and elegant wines from the family estate. Rémi recently took over from his father François and has moved to organic viticulture. The Domaine Jobard house style is very elegant and long lived with minimal oak influence. Yields are very low.
Rémi organically farms 8 hectares of vineyards including the premier crus of Genevrières, Charmes and Les Poruzets. The Jobard estate is focussed on a range of lieux-dits including Chevaliers and Sous la Velle.
Rémi targets finesse and elegance, focussing on fruit expression rather than winemaking constructs or oak influence. Whole bunches are fermented with wild yeast before maturation in very tight grained Austrian oak, chosen for the minimal character it imparts on the wines. Large fudre barrels are used for the Premier Crus and all wines are bottled without filtration.
Even if this wine is a “simple” Bourgogne blanc it reflects the character of Meursault. A very exceptional Bourgogne Blanc.
