Masseria Pietrosa, Puglia (Terre di Chieti), Italy, Pecorino IGT
Pietrosa Masseria is located in Apulia at San Marzano and was founded in 1962. The wines are made by Filippo Baccalaro and are very typical for the terroir.
This wine is produced to give attention to the indigenous white grape variety ‘Pecorino’ of the region on the Adriatic coast. The vineyards are located in the district of Chieti in the Abruzzo region and are mainly planted on sandy-clay soils.
The grapes are vinified by a gentle pneumatic pressing, rapid cooling and resting on lees. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 16° and 18°C for 10-15 days. The wine does not undergo malolactic fermentation and is aged in stainless steel tanks for about 4 months on fine lees.
