2016 Clos Floridène, Bordeaux, France, Graves
Clos Floridène is an estate mostly located on the calcareous plateau of Pujols sur Ciron, near Barsac, in the Graves appellation. A few plots are also located on the pebbly terraces of Illats
Maintained exclusively by traditional plowing the soil of the vineyard, no use of herbicides. Organic manures are plant-based composts. The vineyards are "cultivated like a garden" in an orderly and unspoiled nature. Due to this approach the vines produce quite early concentrated tasty grapes having the smoothness and brightness of fresh aromatic fruit we wish to find in these kind of wines.
In an effort to balance the carbon footprint, the Dubourdieu family also manages a forest estate equal in size to that of its vineyards.
Here is the comment of Jean-Marc Quarin (independent critic of Bordeaux wines) about Clos Floridène:
"Honestly, I consider more and more Clos Floridene white as one of the most beautiful bottles of white in France, a must in the winery of each amateur."
