2011 Grand Vin de Montalivet, Bordeaux, France, Graves
The Grand Vin de Montalivet is the 2nd wine of the famous Château Floridène, owned by Denis Dubourdieu, produced from young vines.
The white wine vineyard (22.7 ha) consists of Semillon (56%), Sauvignon (43%) and Muscadelle (1%). Densities plantations between 5500 and 7140 vines per hectare.
Maintained exclusively by traditional plowing the soil of the vineyard, no use of herbicides. Organic manures are plant-based composts. The vineyards are "cultivated like a garden" in an orderly and unspoiled nature. Due to this approach the vines produce quite early concentrated tasty grapes having the smoothness and brightness of fresh aromatic fruit we wish to find in these kind of wines.
In an effort to balance the carbon footprint, the Dubourdieu family also manages a forest estate equal in size to that of its vineyards.
Denis and Florence Dubourdieu are winemakers with a very high reputation in Bordeaux.
