2011 La Chapelle de Bages, Bordeaux, France, Pauillac
The domain Château Haut-Bages Libéral is a prestigious French wine estate. It is located in the vineyards of Bordeaux, in the Gironde. It produces red wines in the appellation AOC Pauillac. The estate has been included in the official classification of the grands crus du Medoc of 1855 as the fifth cru classé of Pauillac.
The estate's vineyards cover an area of nearly 30 hectares. The grape variety are composed of Merlot noir (30%) and Cabernet-Sauvignon noir (70%). The area benefits from an oceanic climate. The terroir exploited by Château Haut-Bages Libéral is essentially composed of deep gravels, clay and limestone, chalky limestone, gunzian garrigue and clay, in more or less large and scattered quantities. The estate leads its vineyards according to the principles of organic viticulture and biodynamic viticulture (since 2009).
For the vinification of its grapes, Château Haut-Bages Libéral has opted for the traditional method. To do this, concrete tanks but also stainless steel tanks are used according to the cuvées.
