2001 Château Montviel, Bordeaux, France, Pomerol
This typical Pomerol terroir with 4.5 hectares is located in the middle of a slope north of the Pomerol plateau. It is composed of a mosaic of plots near the Château Clinet with clay and gravel soils with in the basements iron dross. The age of vines is 30 years on average.
The owners of vineyards Péré-Vergé have always appealed to their friend Michel Rolland for the vinification of their wines.
Montviel is now focused on 4,5 Ha with some micro-vinified parcels. It has a yield of 35 hl/ ha. After careful hand harvesting in small crates of 12 kg follows a double sorting. Depending on the vintage 50% to 100% new barrels are home to the wine during the malolactic fermentation and 15 months of aging.
