2004 Château Les Hivers Grillet, Cuvée Gaby, Bordeaux, France, Premières Côtes de Blaye
The vineyards of Blaye are located between the regions of Pomerol, Saint-Emilion and Médoc (by which it is separated by the estuary of the Gironde). In the part of the "Premières Côtes de Blaye" the best wines of the region are produced. The castle "Les Hivers Grillet" is situated on the top of the highest hill of Blaye, next to the renowned town Berson.
Minimum density of 5,000 vines per hectare, grass competition with every two rows of vines. Reasoned fertilization can control the yield about 50 hl / ha.
The harvest date is determined when the crop has reached a degree of ripeness. Always with the same requirement, the harvest (mainly mechanical) is performed in a very short period, with the help of the most modern professional equipment.
At the reception of the grapes they undergo a very strict selection on a harvest table sorting followed by de-stemming. This is followed by filling of the tanks (fuel system 100% stainless steel). Matured in oak barrels for 12 months. 1/3 new barrels, 1/3 barrels of 1 wine and 1/3 barrels of 2 wines Assembly: 2/3 Merlot and 1/3 Cabernet Franc.
