2006 Château La Rose-Pourret, Bordeaux, France, Saint-Emillion Grand Cru
Harvested on an estate that has been managed by the same family for over a hundred years, the Château la Rose Pourret took its present form at the beginning of the twentieth century: a vineyard of 8 hectares in a single plot, just a few hundred meters from the Saint-Emilion bell tower, right in the heart of the very best soil. It is the propriety of the Warrion family.
The production area covers 8 hectares with an average annual production of 42 000 bottles. The soil contains sandy clay with iron dross and sedimentary soils. The grape varieties are 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet. The average age of the vines is 35 years. The vine management is traditional, with leaf removal, green harvest and manual harvest. The vinification is done in temperature-controlled vats with a long maceration of 3 to 4 weeks. The ageing is done during 14 months in oak barrels, 40% of which are renewed every year.
The blend of this vintage 2006 is 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet franc.
