Sauternes is a French sweet wine appellation of origin produced in the Sauternais, a subdivision of the Bordeaux vineyards.
The production area of the appellation is composed of five villages: Barsac, Bommes, Fargues, Preignac and Sauternes, all located on the left bank of the Garonne, on both sides of the river Ciron, south of Bordeaux. The vineyard has some exceptional internationally recognized wines such as Château d'Yquem Premier Cru, retained in the official classification of Bordeaux wines of 1855.
Château Caplane is a 19th familial Domaine. Small producer of Sauternes with vineyards surrounded by great wines (Yquem, D'Arche, Guiraud). Owner Mr. David Guy has 12 hectares located on Bommes.
