2011 Côtes-du-Rhône, Domaine de Lumian, Côtes-du-Rhône, France, Côtes-du-Rhône
This wine is produced by winemakers and life partners Gilles Phétisson and Caroline Bonnefoy who each have their own domain. Located on the soil of Valréas, the Lumian domain occupies 35 ha.
In 1999, Gilles opted for a healthier way of agriculture and engaged in organic farming.
The soil is mainly stony with a clay-limestone subsoil. The various plots at a higher level
have a more friable soil, which is composed of former sand banks of the Tertiary.
Manually harvested at full maturity, the grapes are de-stemmed and then crushed. Traditional vinification with constant monitoring of temperatures and densities. Fermentation lasts about ten days.
The wine matures in concrete vats for at least one year before bottling.
