2009 Sancerre, Domaine Benoît Chauveau, Loire, France, Sancerre
Born into a family of wine for several generations, Benedict Chauveau has taken over part of the vineyard from his parents in 1995 and his grandparents vineyards in 1997. Since 2000 he is associated partner with his wife Emmanuelle. Today, the domain is composed of a dozen hectares on Sancerre, Pouilly-Fumé and Pouilly-sur-Loire with different types of soil (Kimmeridgian marl, flint clay and limestone Villiers).
Some 80,000 bottles are produced each year in a constant quality characterized by a rigorous conduct of the vine pest management (using a minimum of treatment products on the vine, only in terms of disease). The wines are subject to traditional vinification and the different wines are carefully assembled. 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Aged in stainless steel tanks. Vineyard in Sancerre: 6 hectares. Vines of 20 years on average.
