2011 Rhône by Roger Sabon, Rhône, France, Côtes-du-Rhône
These wines are fruity which is really desired, fairly easy to drink with silky tannins and well-enough developed to drink for immediate pleasure.
They are grown on a varied soil, composed of clay and limestone, ranging from the plain to the hill. As far as the vines are concerned, Grenache dominates, accented with some Cinsault and Syrah. The sorting is strict, although it is not mandatory in this appellation, but it is what allows a recognized quality.
All harvest is destemmed for the desired tannic finesse. The fermentation temperature is between 26°C-28°C to retain maximum fruitiness. The wine is matured in inox tanks only to preserve all primary flavors.
A very good representative of its name, this red Côtes du Rhône is the perfect example of what the best wines from the south have to offer. Fruity, though generous and with elegance, this is the perfect type of wine to drink with friends at an impromptu party.
