The Aligoté : a white wine from Bourgogne
Bourgogne Aligoté is an appellation of regional origin for a white wine made from the Aligoté grape from the wineyards of Bourgogne. The wineyards where this wine is produced are located especially in the region Saône-et-Loire, Côte d’Or and Yonne. This appellation has been granted since 1937.
Excellent quality white wine
Bourgogne Aligoté spreads over a total surface of 1575 ha for an annual production of 103.000 hectoliter. In the Bourgogne region, white wines are produced in bigger quantities than red wines and other sorts of wines. Cultivated on a clay-limestone soil, mixed with clay and marl, Aligoté ripes in a way that determines the aroma and the unique taste of this wine.
Bourgogne Aligoté wine is well known among the wine-lovers around the world for its freshness and floral hints of acacia or hawthorn. Besides, the fruity aroma of the apple or lemon are palatable. This kind of white wine can be conserved from 1 to 3 years and therefore is being drinked quite young.
