2006 Campos de Luz Garnacha Reserva, Aragon, Spain, Carinena DO

This wine is made on a single estate with vines of 40 to 80 years old Garnacha. Due to the age of the vines the yield is very low. Some parts of the vineyard have been renewed to assure the future of the domain. Most of the wines of Campos de Luz are based on the Garnacha grape, a very typical grape that represent perfectly the character of the soil and the terroir of this appellation.

In the DO Cariñena, Garnacha dominates, covering 60% of the planted area and we can really talk about a historical grape. This dry and sunny region is perfect for the Garnacha grapes and also lead to the name of Campos de Luz (fields of light).

The soil of this vineyard is rich with pebbles. The wine is made by fermentation for 8 to 10 days at 24 to 26ºC in stainless steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation also takes place in these tanks. The wine ages for one and a half years in American oak. Limited production of 45 000 bottles.
Wines made from 100% Garnacha often needs a long aeration before drinking, so decant 2 hours before tasting.
