Château De Bel, La Capitane, Bordeaux, France, Bordeaux Supérieur

Capitane is the great wine coming from Olivier Cazenave's vineyard of Château de Bel. This wine is composed of 100% merlot planted on a clay-lime soil with a limestone layer. The grapes are harvested manually. Next they are sorted (on a sorting table), destemmed and crushed. This is followed by a short fermentation (10 days) and by treading. The wine is fermented in cigar-shaped wooden vats, with a portion of malolactic fermentation in barrels to get fat and roundness. Ageing takes place in 85% of barrels (50% new barrels, 50% barrels of one year) and the rest in vats.

The 2006 vintage is a vintage with pleasure wines with a lot of delicacy and freshness.
